JVC- Stinger Sniper

"Good game."

date: December 25, 2009

Before I begin the review, I'd just like to ask why are some of you complaining about the title of the game? You act as if it's the worst name in the history of flash games, but it isn't even one of the worst names out there. Well, at least to me it isn't, I find it rather decent. Not great, but it's not bad either.

The year is 2540 and it is referred to as the dark times. You are Jack Van Cell, and you are an underground militia agent working within the city of Pragora against a bio-robotic regime called the Stingers. The stingers are synthetically grown in laboratories and comes within 2 different grades: grade 1 stingers are the guards that enforce the law, and grade 2 are the stingers that are much like humans, but are in disguise.

The gameplay isn't exactly as difficult as EIKkshi said; it isn't way too difficult in the slightest because once you know what to do, and after you beat the game it will be much easier the second time. You can really breeze through the game quite easily, and I happen to have reached in 4th place within the Scoreboard for the day, and I made it in 20th place for the week. Too bad it doesn't say much about the month, but if anything the game isn't too hard at all. Again, once you know what to do and know where the enemies are, you'll breeze through this very easily. In fact I have beaten this game 3 times in a row very quickly without a single failure.
What I love about the gameplay is how it blends point and click with sniper gameplay, and I personally find this to be unique as I have never seen this sort of hybrid before. And it really does work really well together, but there are there is one complaint I have with the overall game in regards of the campaign: in one particular mission you are to head up the stairs to do your next mission, but only staff is allowed. The mission takes place within a restaurant and a guard is pretty much monitoring the location, but you can somehow steal the uniform of a staff member without him noticing. I find this to be very problematic because he is facing within the proper direction for him to see you disguising yourself; after all, the door was still open, so he should steal see it from his perspective.
Other than that little problem, the game does suffer from another problem and that is being too easy; I really do find this game to be a bit too easy, it really doesn't show much of a challenge.
But the gameplay over all is still fun, and I do like how you don't necessarily
have to read the entire briefings for each mission; you can just read the Objectives and the Information which tell you all what you really need, and then you are off. Very quick and simple.

The graphics are really fantastic, and I would argue amount the amount of redness there is in the whole game, but I think the red kind of represents the dark time of the year and the Stinger regime running the town of Pragora. So, the redness of the visuals really does help with the storyline of the game.
Now, if you played the Bowja the Ninja, you'll notice some graphical similarities, and the animation is also rather the same; this isn't a bad thing, as the game looks great and animates really well. The environment and character designs are really impressive.

The sound is also another great aspect of the game, and it is nice that the game doesn't have the comedic effect that Bowja the Ninja had. Not that I had anything wrong with it, but if that was in JVC I definitely be rating the sound much lower as I don't believe it would work well. The sound here is actually more serious than it is in Bowja the Ninja, and you'll notice that within the good music and good sound effects. There not being any voice acting actually is a plus because I believe adding in voice acting will only ruin it, rather or not it turned out to be good voice acting.

GOOD - Decent storyline. Unique hybrid. Reading the full briefings before each mission is not a must.

BAD - Too easy. Some problems within a specific mission mentioned earlier.

Hobo Prison Brawl

"Pretty Cool"

submission: Hobo Prison Brawl
date: December 7, 2009

I reviewed the first one, and I have to admit that my review wasn't really all that good; my grammar was terrible back then. This is really why I want there to be some sort of editing option for reviewers. I did ask, but I got no response. So, to make up for my poor written review of the first one, I'm going to write a much better one for Hobo Prison Brawl.

This time the Hobo is in prison. And what is he doing? What he does best of course: punch, kick, throw, spit, puke, shit, and more.

The gameplay is still the same as it was before. It really isn't a bad thing, but a few changes would have been nice; I supposed you didn't want to bother to change much of anything 'cause of that one saying: If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
While the gameplay is the same, and you're doing the same good things as the first one. There are a couple of new moves that I don't think were in the first one, like the one where you get to piss on your enemies. The old moves you got from the first one when they were specials are now your basic moves; the newer ones you find here are the specials. And those passwords are still here, so be sure to write them some where if you want to keep continuing without starting all over.

The graphics haven't changed much either; the animation is still the same, as well as the overall visuals. Kind of wish they were a bit more improved, but they're not. Not to say it looks bad or anything, but it would have been nice for it to be improved.

Sound also isn't much different; you got the same soundtrack, and the sound effects are the same. Although they still sound pretty good.

GOOD - Just as fun and enjoyable as the first one. Some new moves.

BAD - Perhaps a bit too much of the same as the previous one.

{Hentai Gallery#2}

"Really don't know about rating this one"

submission: {Hentai Gallery#2}
date: December 3, 2009

Firstly, I am not gay. Otherwise my DeviantART account would not be the way it is. But, the problem I have is, obviously not all the artwork is done by Glover85. So, what good is rating him going to do? I mean, he hasn't done the work, all he did was spent an hour just to find all this stuff online. This is something anybody can do, and already alot of people have done it. These people would search online for good hentai, added to their flash gallery, and then post it. These people haven't done the artwork themselves, they didn't spend weeks or months creating this amazing drawings; they just found them off the web and they really don't give any credit.

And even if Glover85 did some of these, which ones are they? And for the ones he hasn't done, why didn't they credit them? I think it's rather unfair to just take artwork from other sites and not at all credit them. And because the artwork isn't done by the author of this flash, I cannot give it a rating. 'Cause what can I say? The artwork is sexy and makes me wanna cum? Well, yeah, but it'd be more of a compliment towards the artists themselves.

Bottom line is, I can't talk about how good or bad anything is in this flash 'cause Glover85 didn't do any of it, other than the back and fourth buttons and the background. I can't say the music is good, because it's not his, it's by Tenacious D. I can't say the artwork is spectacular, 'cause they're obviously not his; they all got different art styles. So, really all I can say is: The background is too plain, but the buttons work fine.

I got a strange feeling people are going to mark this review useless; if you do, remember one important thing:

This is my opinion; I'm not going to sit here and lie just to make you feel better.

Combo X999

"Pretty Cool"

submission: Combo X999
date: November 28, 2009

The game isn't very unique as it takes the concept of a classic, Space Invaders, and adds a few twists to it. But, luckily it's a twist that works very well, and in someway does sort of gives it it's originality.

The gameplay is very basic, and plays a lot like Space Invaders. The aliens are sending in numerous ships and you are placed at the very bottom preventing them from getting to low. The twist is you are aiming for color matched groups and earning coins for the slot machine that you use to do special attacks. It's got a unique twist and thankfully it works out well. But, it doesn't work out well as there are a few problems that causes the game to freeze up and slow down. Well, actually it works out well, just not as well as I hoped.

The graphics are the a 8-bit pixel so it isn't anything new, but, that doesn't mean it looks bad. If anything, there are some colors added, as I do believe the original Space Invaders was completely in Black and White. Literally. The background is very cool looking and is perhaps one of the coolest backgrounds I've seen. But, for some reason, I don't think it matches well with the song; it could just be me.

The audio is very good, with great 8-bit sound effects and 8-bit music by Nick Perrin. Song name, as it says in the Author & File Info, is Victory! Music goes very well and helps with the feel of the game. Perhaps more songs could be used, but, I believe one is good enough.

Not a very unique game, but, does add an original twist.

GOOD - Adds an original twist to a not so unique concept. Nice music done by Nick Perrin. One of the best backgrounds.

BAD - Glitches that freeze the game up and causes it to slow down.

Variety Show Gun Shoot

"Terrible"

date: November 26, 2009

Nothing is really good at all about this game. Nothing at all. Players may complain about it not being in English, but, rather Japanese, I really didn't mind that at all. After all, the instruction is written within the Author's Comments.

The gameplay is so terrible, I can't get pass the first level. The game's got a series glitch where I can't hit the target, even when aiming in the dead center. It uses only the mouse, and while this does sound good as most Flash shooters do, here it is bad, bad news; There are on-screen buttons at the right corner of the screen: 4 arrows for aiming and a button beside it for firing. Now, I really don't understand why I can't just control the aiming and firing with the mouse itself; it has been done with other flash shooters and it's still being done. All you do is just aim your gun by moving your mouse up to the target, and once you got it aimed you fired by pressing the mouse button. Luckily, you're not shooting at targets that can shoot back.

The graphics are really bad, they are just too bland to really appreciate. And the Japanese guy at the corner is kind a creepy; he just stares at you, but, he looks like a zombie as he has no pupils, his eyes are just pure white. Not to mention the cat is kinda creepy too. They just stand there staring at you. motionless. Nothing good about the animation of the visuals either.

The sound is also really bad. The music is annoying as fuck and I really, really hate it. sound effects are also nothing special at all.

GOOD - What, are you kidding?

BAD - The whole entire game is God awful, do I seriously have to make a list?

Fallen Angel Ep. 1 (Pt3)

"Pretty Cool"

date: November 18, 2009

I have watched all 3 parts, and I must say it certainly was great. I only wish episode two and the rest would come out, 'cause it's definitely been a while. It hasn't been canceled, has it?

The story seems to involve around a 22 year old woman named Sarah, everyone she knows is dead. World War III has just broke out, and nuclear weapons have been used. The entire country of U.S.A is a post-apocalyptic world, and Sarah is trying to survive as best she can.

The graphics are really incredible, one of the best looking Flash movies I've seen. The animation is also really great. I've noticed a few slow downs, especially in the 3rd part; probably due to the explosions, which look fantastic. The destroyed cities, the explosions, the people are all well drawn. And I have to say, Sarah is hot.

The audio is also really good. The voice acting was really impressive, the music was fantastic, and the special effects are superb. Juliet Robert did a good job voicing Sarah (Uh, she is the one who voiced Sarah, right?)

So, far Fallen Angel is shaping up to be a very good series. unfortunately for about a year now there's only been one episode.

GOOD- Great visuals. Great animation. Great Voice acting. Great music. Great sound effects. Sarah is hot.

BAD- some slowdowns, especially in part 3. Only one episode has been released and it's been a year.

Kingdom of Machines

"How can a game that looks so good be so boring?"

date: November 14, 2009

This game is just, in all honesty, God awful. It's got some of the best looking pixel-graphics I have ever seen on a flash game(Or any game for that matter) that I have personally have ever seen on this site (Or anywhere else for that matter). But, it is just completely boring. It lacks a great story, interesting enemies and characters (really lacks characters; there's only the Warlord, the grandma, and the protagonist), and overall, fun.

The story is really some of the worst I've heard heard. Back in September, I reviewed a game called Canabalt, and mentioned it has the best story I have ever "heard" in a game. While Canabalt doesn't have any dialog what's so ever, it did have a story, just told in a unique and interesting way. This game uses the same type of story telling that has been used back in the NES times, and it really doesn't work very well. For example, when you're character wakes up, the grandma come back and goes " Oh, good! You're awake. Listen, would you be such a deary and destroy the evil warlord and his robotic minions? Thank you, sweetie" And then you go out the doorway (Surprisingly, there aren't any doors ) and the evil warlord, who is just outside your house for God knows what reason, goes " If you want to fight me you'll have to fight the four mini-bosses! MUHAHAHAHA!"

The gameplay is really, really dull. There's a complete lack of characters, interesting characters, and character development. Now I know the town you are in has been destroyed, so it's likely they have all died, but, the grandma could have at least be a bit more interesting. The enemies you fight are just the worst enemies I have ever seen in a game; you don't really have to fight them at all. Just run pass them all until you reach the mini boss, kick his ass, and repeat. There are 4 mini-bosses and they all look the same, just different colors. The level designs are really terrible; they are repetitive and bland. I often found myself getting lost. The environment really doesn't make any sense. Why was there a town built in the middle of some sort of forest, or whatever, that have maze like buildings?

The graphics are really the only good thing about this game; they look incredible. Simply the best looking game I've seen with pixel-graphics, anywhere. The game really is well detailed and it animates quite well. However, I do have a slight problem with the protagonist's animation, particularly his running animation. Running forward, toward the bottom, and from the sides doesn't look the same; when he runs forwards, he looks like his unzipping his pants, or something; when he runs towards the bottom looks like he's somewhat dancing. And when he runs from the sides, it seems more believable.

The game has decent sound effects, and I have noticed how the music may change depending on where you are at. But, there really isn't anything spectacular going on for the audio.

Just 'cause you got good looking graphics, doesn't mean you got a great game.

GOOD - Good looking graphics.

BAD - Boring as hell. Repetitive level designs. Constantly getting lost. Worst enemies ever. The audio is nothing special.

"Nice Gallery"

date: October 26, 2009

In order to have a fair review within all three versions of the game. But, only with the gallery and the music, because it's hard to say which was the toughest, especially with the questions written within the Author's Comments ( Except for v3.0, but, it had it written in the Reviews).
Comparing the music with all three is easy, but, the gallery is a bit hard; the first version has 14 images, while the other two both have 20. Regardless, I have managed to compare all three and this is how I have done it: #1 I would have three games running in separate times, and I would finish up the quizzes with all three. #2 Then I would have the first image from all three and compare them, and decide upon which first image from all three I appreciate the most. #3 After deciding upon which one I favor, I would mark BEST right next to it. For example, Furry Quiz v2.0 - 1 BEST. #4 after comparing all three versions, with the ones I haven't favored, I would just erase them, making it easier for me to count each of the favors I made with all three versions.

Generally, this game fails as a quiz game, 'cause the questions aren't difficult, especially when they are written within the Authors Comments (Again, only with the first two; the third had it written within the Reviews). But, that doesn't make either of the games bad in anyway; As long as I am cheating my way to into seeing some great images, then it's fine by me. And the images here are pretty good, especially with the Flash Box (That's what I call it) expanded; some of the ones I've played, you had to shrink the Flash Box to get the better quality out of the images, but, here it is the opposite. Of course, there are are few others like this, but, it's still worth mentioning.

As I mentioned previously, I have compared the galleries within all three versions of the game. So, here is the result for Furry Quiz v1.0:

Image-5-BEST
Image-10-BEST
Image-11-BEST

Of course, with there being 6 images less within this version, it was a bit hard to compare all three.

The music within this version is good, but, definitely not my favorite. It's hard for me to say what type of genre this relates to ( After all, I am no musical expert), but, I can at least say it sounds "drummy" Not a negative thing, it just means there's a lot of drums going on. Regardless of this not being my favorite out of all the three versions, Furry Rave Hard Tekkno (by megawolf77), still is a good choice.

This version of the series has a bit of a pinkish hue to it.

GOOD - Sexy gallery. nice music. Great that you can better view them with the Flash Box expanded, unlike some others where you have to shrink it to gain the best quality out of them; truth be told, it actually works good both ways.

BAD - Only 14 images, while the other two have 20. Answers are written within the Authors Comments; gives away the challenge.

The Facebook Problem

"Funny as hell!"

date: October 11, 2009

That was just damn funny. This is one of the funniest Flash Movies I've seen so far here on Newgrounds.com. The passing was just spot on and didn't feel entirely rushed.

Now this actually happens to be based on a true story, as told via the Author Comments. However, it obviously isn't exact, but rather over exaggerating the whole situation. The video starts off with the camera (well, techicnally not the camera, but I don't know what you call this process) moving across people who are outside having a great time. Here, you see probably the funniest french kissing ever. The protagonist shows up driving his car, texting a messaging on faceback via his cell phone. Runs into a guy on the road, and suddenly starts to run over other people and gets the car in a pond. The driver is seen with his guts sticking out in a bloody mess lying on a tree. This bit is rather questionable, but who cares if it's so darn funny! By the way, if some of you haven't noticed yet, around the end where the protagonist is messaging on facebook and you see the page, look at the left side and you'll see links regarding his ass *XD.

The graphics are also pretty good and really goes well with the comedic feel of the movie. The animation is very top notch, some of the smoothest I've seen. I just love seeing top quality animation like this! My favorite animation would definitely have to be the french kissing. 'Cause that was mad funny!

The audio is also pretty top notch. the use of music was good, and the sound effects were great. The voice acting is also very well done. Overall, nicely done.

I laughed at the begining; I laughed at the middle; I laughed at the end.

GOOD - Top animation. Funny as hell. Good sound effects. Great voice acting.

BAD - I just can't think of any, 'cause this is just too damn funny. I would include that questionable seen, but considering how many times I said " HA HA HA HA ", I don't think that would be neccessary.

Hey Wizard!

"Needs improvements"

submission: Hey Wizard!
date: October 11, 2009

Now I have actually played this game before back in 2008, but I haven't really played enough of it and I haven't done the review. But, seeing that the sequel came out rather recently, I figured I'd pay a visit to this one first; if I just went immediatley to the second one, I would not been able to say what has been improved or not. Besides it just a while since I've played this, I practically forgot everything about it.

The story revolves around a wizard. This wizard stubbled upon an interesting looking book called MegaGate; he read the first sentence and the Megagate appeared, and took all of his magic spells. It is up to the wizard to gain them back. The wizard must travel through various of locations (although they look rather the same if you just look at the colors) and collect all of the lost magic spells.

The gameplay often has you figting various of creatures (Well, actually there's not a whole lot. a majority of them, at least earlier, are all the same, just in different sizes) and there are these summoners called Gates that summon the monsters you must fight off. I haven't really gotten all that far within the game, but from what I gather a majority of the time you have to deal with the Gates to stop from from summoning more monsters, but there a few levels where they aren't there. Much like the 3rd level where you must destroy these claw like things and take out the monster at the control. Now, one of the reasons I haven't gotten all that far is because of the controls. The controls are rather troublesome, and it doesn't help that they are a bit buggy. Sometimes the wizard may move uncontrollably move on his own, and I'm not just talking about being on a tilted platform. He can actually just move upwards on his own. Also at certain times when using Fire to get airbrone, at times when I let go of the mouse button like you supposed if you want to get back down, but instead he just keeps going up. Other than the levels ( you don't have to play the levels in order, you can start off with level 2 if you like) you play through there is also an arena that has you battling against waves of enemies through rounds.

The graphics are rather very simpilistic. While this isn't a bad thing, there are still some bad things to mentioned when it comes to the graphics. I don't mind that there only three colors: red, yellow and green. But there are few downers though. Such as the fire; it really doesn't look like fire. The way the wizard walks is always really weird, it seems like he's moving a while. But, like those types of wheels that have 4 legs. Overal the graphics are rather very simplistic.

When it come to audio ther isn't much going on for music, it's really just the same song. the sound effects are rather good though, like when you charge a lighting bolt long enough and shoot, it becomes much louder. The fire sounds good. There are also additional sound effects that are also done well. There aren't any voice acting, but the wizard may laugh a few times when he finds a book. The laughing doesn't sound forced.

GOOD - Simplistic, but good graphics. Non-linear. features achievements. Decent audio.

BAD - Only three colors mostly. Fire doesn't look like fire. Wizard's walking animation is weird. Troublesome controls. A few bugs. Magic powers are at times hard to use, due to bugs.
